Our History

Our values have shaped who we are today. Here’s a look at the people and milestones that defined our journey.

1995 - 2007: Founding & Early Growth

ProInfoNet was founded in 1995 by Jim Rogers in his home office in Bangor, Maine. Driven by a desire to strengthen communities through better communication systems, Jim drew on 14 years of IT experience to help businesses across New England address their technology needs.

Within three years, ProInfoNet moved into its first office. Over the next decade, the team partnered with organizations such as Maine Sea Coast Mission, the University of Maine, and the Bangor Daily News to expand connectivity and modernize IT systems.

2007 - 2019: Advocacy & Legislative Impact

In 2007, Jim identified gaps in federal funding for healthcare IT systems and began advocating for reform with local and state representatives. His efforts contributed to the creation of the Healthcare Connect Fund program and the Healthcare Connect Order, which cited his advocacy 22 times.

That same year, Jim helped establish the New England Telehealth Consortium (NETC), a nonprofit dedicated to improving connectivity for rural and underserved healthcare organizations. Since 2011, ProInfoNet has served as NETC’s managing agent, designing, building, and maintaining the network that now supports more than 1,400 healthcare sites. This role laid the foundation for our deep expertise in healthcare connectivity, which remains a core focus of our consulting work today.

2019 - 2024: Expanding Consulting Services

Continuing his mission to address nationwide IT disparities, Jim expanded ProInfoNet’s consulting work in 2019 with the launch of Mission Broadband. This initiative allowed ProInfoNet to support states, counties, and municipalities in closing broadband gaps. Since then, the effort has supported over 4 states, 52 counties, 1,500 towns, and 2.1 million residents, helping connect families, schools, and businesses across the U.S.

2025 - Today: Growing Our Reach

In 2025, ProInfoNet opened a second office in downtown Portland, expanding our regional presence and positioning us to serve clients across New England and beyond.

With teams now in both Bangor and Portland, we continue to advance our work in healthcare connectivity, broadband expansion, network infrastructure, and strategic planning. Our goal is to be the trusted advisors our clients rely on to strengthen technology and expand access in the communities they serve.
